Kickstarting a healthier lifestyle: Pam and Don

Break out of your lifestyle and nutrition funk

Pam and Don, a couple in their early 60s, were in a health and lifestyle funk.

They both got home around 5pm each night and flopped into their chairs in front of the tv to watch their shows together. Shortly after getting home, Pam would get up to prepare dinner for the two, relying on the recipes she had grown up with: scalloped potatoes, lasagna, steak and fries…

Sound familiar?

Don reached out to me earlier this year to participate in my Rebalance Your Body spring detox program. He knew his health needed some attention. He had no energy, was experiencing acid reflux, his pant size has been creeping up year-after-year, and he recognized his diet lacked fruits and vegetables.

After a brief consultation with Don, it became clear that both he and Pam wanted to be healthier, and for any changes to stick, they needed to work as a team to improve their nutrition.

Both enrolled in Rebalance Your Body in May this year and have kick-started a transition into a healthier way of life. Through the program they were able to cleanse their body of sugar and other toxifying substances, while embracing vegetables as the hub for healthy meals.

Throughout the detox process, I shared some simple recipes and shopping lists, and encouraged the couple to try new things. As a result, Pam and Don now eat meals rich in nutrients instead of empty calories. They’ve swapped cauliflower for fries!

“I lost weight, and I’m still eating a lot of vegetables…and no bread and sugar!” Don proudly shares.

Pam, who initially feared altering the diet she had been accustomed to her whole life, reflected on the experience:

“You were very helpful and it was good to talk to you every few days, especially early on when I didn’t know what to expect.”

I continue to hear progress from Pam and Don, and am thrilled to know they are feeling and living better than they have in years!

How about you? Are you ready to break out of your current habits to establish a new normal?
